The story begins with two high school kids who met while running cross country.

Andrew liked that Kelsey was confident, mysterious and independent. She always wore black.

Kelsey liked that Andrew was passionate about his art and thought it was cool he published his own comic book. She liked that he was moody, mysterious and very talented.

The two hung out, became friends but didn't connect romantically. Andrew would later say "She's the cross country girl that got away."

Long before their future was clear, Andrew told someone he worked with in high school—right after Kelsey had visited him—that he was going to marry her. Somehow, he already knew what their story would become.

Lives were lived. Babies were born and grew up. Temples started to go gray. Decades flew by.... But one thing that never changed: Andrew continued to pursue his passion and talent for drawing and was an artist at a local Comic-con Event one day in 2019.

Kelsey just happened to be at the same event, and always up for a good theme, was proudly wearing a Darth Vader T-shirt as she visited the booths.

Kelsey saw his name on the booth and remembers Andrew pushing someone out of the way to reach out and give her a big hug.

All that time. Where have you been? What have you been doing? Are you are still the same person I had a connection to all those years ago?...They would spend the next two hours walking the show, swallowed by the crowds, but forgetting anyone else was in the room.

Kelsey and Andrew then spend almost three years together, but there was a truth missing in their relationship. It was too nice, too friendly, and built on expectations they had of each other as high schoolers. Kelsey didn't feel that Andrew knew or loved the real her. They weren't growing together in the same direction, and the relationship was ended.

...they both say it gave them the opportunity to find out who they really were, and what they wanted in life.

For Andrew, he was stepping out of his comfort zone and finding himself through an empty nest.

For Kelsey, she ended a toxic job and moved away from the town she had lived in for over 30 years.

Together, they learned they wanted to grow and love each other (blemishes and all) and face the next chapter of their lives together.

....willing and ready to take on each challenge of life together. Their forever partner.
